Welder 2 or 3 – 1st, 2nd or Weekend Shift

NOW HIRING: We are looking for a Welder 2 (more MIG experience) or Welder 3 (expert) to join our team. A Welder 2 or 3 is responsible for performing MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications. Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory. Millerbernd Manufacturing Company is an AWS (American Welding Society) Sustaining Company Member. Job Welder 2 or 3 (based on internal weld test and assessment) Location: Sauk Rapids, MN Salary Range: Welder 2: $25.03 - $29.46/hour; Welder 3: $29.76 – $35.33/hour (Non-Exempt) (In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.) Shift Schedule : 1st shift: Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm, 2nd shift: Monday - Thursday 3pm - 1am, Weekend shift: Friday – Sunday 5am - 5pm Shift Differential : 1st shift - N/A, 2nd shift - $1.50/hour, Weekend shift - $2.50/hour As a Welder 2 , you will: Perform these GMAW welds: butt – V – single bevel and fillet welds on carbon steel Produce welds that pass visual inspection Can perform necessary repairs that pass adhere to MMC Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements Demonstrates the ability to weld the above weld joints with either .045 and/or .062 diameter wires Read and understand MMC WPS’s – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parameters Proficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gauges Can perform welds using following wire – solid – flux core and metal core as needed. Can weld carbon, stainless steel as needed Perform carbon arc gouging and recognize when any and all defects have been removed Layout and tack to specifications Use grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as needed Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required Enter job data in production tracking system Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required Must be AWS GMAW certified Welders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certification within 14 days of employment – up to 3 attempts Welders employed with Millerbernd Circular Products, Sauk Rapids are required to obtain and maintain ASME certification requirements Ensure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements As a Welder 3 you will: All of the Welder 2 requirements and the following: Acts as a resident expert within the team on safety; typically, this role would not incur any safety violations or incidents Visually inspects completed welds to determine acceptance to given specifications Achieves a UT (ultrasonic testing) pass rate of 85% (calculated over a 6-month period from total number of structures welded) Achieves less than 10% visual testing failures (calculated over a 6-month period from total number of structures welded) No more than 0.5 inches per earned hour Can weld any section with little to no visual defects Reads, understands and executes Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS); assists less experienced welders with process interpretation Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded Joins, fabricates and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques Regularly welds on material 3/16” or greater Fits (tacks) any size and complexity Interprets blueprints, specifications or diagrams to determine appropriate welding process Certified to weld on any area of the pole or cylinder/ring as the business requires Performs the welding and/or fabrication within the standard time; average productivity ≥ 75% Works independently through established procedures associated with the job with limited supervision Assists in the development and training of welding and fabrication employees on safe practices and advanced welding procedures and practices Trains other less experienced welders frequently; either in formal welding school or on the job trainer Identifies and initiates product/process improvements Assists with documenting work processes Role Qualifications as a Welder 2: Role Qualifications as a Welder 3 : Qualifications as a Welder 2 including: Welding and fabrication experience preferred Demonstrated progressive experience including AWS, ASME, ISO and/or API welder qualifications Demonstrate progressive experience working in multiple processes, positions and materials through current or previously held certifications in at least 3 of the following process: FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, PAW, SMAW Prefer graduation from an accredited trade school for welding Expert knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols Expert knowledge of weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.) Expert Knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures Physical Demands (Production Roles): This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual can lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery. The employee may need to perform work with the use of ladders.
