DescriptionABOUT AMPI:AMPI owns eight Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.JOB SUMMARY:The ultra-filtration (UF) operator is responsible for general equipment operations and general assistance throughout the production department and sanitation.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.1. Run equipment that involves milk ultra-filtration, including HTST plates for milk and whey.2. Operate dairy processing equipment including separators, whey cream HTST (heat treatment), 3. Operate the milk, Grade A milk, and whey silos to ensure proper utilization, rotation and loading in and out of product4. Operate and Clean, all the key pieces of dairy processing equipment that is involved with the whey department.5. Learn and execute startup procedures of equipment6. Regulate factors such as composition of solids, and temperature; make adjustments depending on the type of product to be produced. 7. Taking frequent readings and logging variables. 8. Operating Clean in Place (CIP) procedures.9. Assist coworkers with tasks and duties that are within the department as assigned10. Communicate well between supervisor, other shifts and departments11. Verify quality control items such as product weights and samples12. Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping13. Operate various machines at an efficient level to fulfill plant demands14. Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping throughout the plant as needed15. Adhere to all aspects of company and customer safety, sanitation and site policies16. Assists with training new employees17. Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting18. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity19.
