Help Help Duties - Post the appropriate tour of duty, hours worked, and leave on a daily basis for employees in his/her assigned Time and Leave (TL) units. - Ensure proper coding of premium pay based on employee type. - Review certified schedules for accuracy and notify supervisor regarding potential discrepancies. - Create corrected timesheets when adjustments to prior pay periods are required. - Ensure that employee leave balances are sufficient to cover leave being used. - Enter requests for employee overtime/compensatory time worked for supervisor and TL approval. - Seek guidance from supervisors and/or payroll staff when clarification is needed related to time and attendance issues. - On pay run Friday, ensures that timesheets are posted correctly for the pay period and notifies supervisors when they are ready for certification. - Responsible for keeping his/her alternate timekeeper fully and completely informed as to the location of time and attendance reports, subsidiary records, manuals and written instructions. - Maintains records related to the Worker's Compensation Program, FMLA, Extended Leave Requests, Military Orders, Court Leave, etc. that support information posted for employees in his/her assigned TL unit. - Responsible for maintaining security and customer confidentiality. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/24/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement : Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: familiarity with the laws, policies, and regulations affecting premium pay entitlements for a variety of pay systems, Title 5 General Schedule (GS), Health Care Workers (HCW), Regular Hybrid, Title 38 (Physicians, Nurses, and Designated Hybrids), Fee Basis, Federal Wage System (FWS), and Veterans Canteen Service (VCS); familiarity with inputting a variety of work schedules such as full-time, part-time, intermittent, etc. for the purpose of posting overtime, compensatory time, holiday time, on-call, night differential, weekend premium, and leave; working with different types of appointments such as career, career-conditional, excepted, temporary, fee-basis, consultant, etc. with different entitlements associated based on the appointment. OR, - Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a 4-year course of study beyond high school. NOTE: This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One (1) year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED. OR, - Combining Experience and Education: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and specialized experience. NOTE: only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements.
