Description: The Student Advocate Support Specialist will provide cultural and instructional support for multilingual learners and create and maintain a culturally integrating learning environment and experiences for students, parents and school staff. Support district children and families as they make school connections and need information on school readiness, remediation and enrichment opportunities, summer school, graduation plans, and post-secondary experiences/training.Job Summary:Assist building staff in orienting new multicultural students in the building and provide ongoing cultural and academic support.Consult with students and staff in district schools and programs.Serve as a liaison between Multicultural families and the school district to meet the needs of parents and students.Develop and facilitate parent involvement with Multicultural programming and schools.Generate community involvement and resources for Multicultural families.Develop cultural resources to meet the needs of staff, students, and district families.Serve and participate in local communities.Provide input when impacting Multicultural students/families, i.e. student/parent surveys, advisory groups, etc.Attend district department meetings and work with leadership staff of Multicultural issues/initiatives.Develop cultural resources to meet the needs of staff, students, and district families.Connect/collaborate with building staff (administration and teachers) to develop, plan culturally-specific family engagement events, and/or parent sessions.Meet and collaborate with the Parent Involvement Department (parent engagement), Communication Education (classes and opportunities), Communication Department (language specific communication).Meet and collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Department. Demonstrating professional demeanor; maintaining confidentiality; representing the district in a positive manner; establishing and maintaining a positive image with sites and community.Demonstrating commitment to own professional growth.Inspiring trust by demonstrating competence, reliability, sincerity, and caring; demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
