Build Leadership Skills. Grow Into Ownership. Are you ambitious, organized, and ready to build a career in the painting and construction industry? Heartland Painting is looking for a Project Manager Associate / Trainee who wants to learn how to successfully manage residential painting projects from start to finish. This is a development position designed for someone who has the drive and character to become a great Project Manager—but may not yet have the experience to step into the role independently. Who We Are At Heartland Painting, we are on a mission to be the most trusted painting company in Minnesota. We are a competitive and growing company committed to excellence in every aspect of our work. Our core value guide everything we do, from how we serve our clients to how we develop our team. Our goal is not simply to fill a position—we want to help you develop the skills, confidence, and leadership ability to take on greater responsibility within the company. What You'll Do As a Project Manager Associate / Trainee, you'll learn the systems and skills required to successfully manage residential painting projects. You'll work closely with our Project Management team while gradually taking ownership of your own responsibilities. Associate / Trainee → Project Manager → Senior Project Manager / Leadership We will teach you our systems, expectations, and production standards. In return, we expect you to bring effort, accountability, coachability, and a willingness to learn. Our goal is for you to eventually be capable of managing projects independently—including crews, customers, schedules, budgets, quality, and profitability. What Success Looks Like During your training, we'll measure your progress based on things like: •Following Heartland's processes consistently •Completing tasks accurately and on time •Communicating proactively •Developing strong customer relationships •Learning to identify and solve problems independently •Building productive relationships with subcontractor crews •Improving project quality and reducing callbacks •Demonstrating increasing ownership and decision-making ability •Progressing toward independently managing profitable projects •Opportunities to make more money by assisting with marketing and outreach efforts in the winter The Right Fit You don't need to know everything coming into this role. We want to teach you. If you have the character, work ethic, communication skills, and ambition to become a great Project Manager, we'll give you the training and opportunity to get there. If you're looking for a place where you can learn, grow, take on responsibility, and build a career, this could be a great fit.
