This role focuses on learning press fundamentals, supporting daily production activities, maintaining quality standards, and following all safety procedures while developing the skills required for advancement.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Assist senior press operators with setup, makeready, and press operationLoad paper rolls and help thread webs through the pressMonitor ink, water, and paper flow during production runsPerform basic press adjustments as directedAssist with press changeovers and cleanupInspect printed product for basic quality issues (registration, color, defects)Pull and review samples at required intervalsNotify press operator of quality concerns or press issues immediatelyFollow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirementsMaintain clean, organized press and work areasAssist with routine press cleaning and preventive maintenanceReport unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment malfunctionsLearn press components, controls, and operating principlesParticipate in on‑the‑job training and skill development programsDemonstrate progression toward independent operation responsibilitiesCommunicate effectively with press crew, supervisors, and support staffSupport shift transitions with accurate production updatesWork collaboratively to meet production schedules and goalsFollow Standard Operating Procedures for Offset ProductionOther duties as assignedPerformance Measurement: Performance feedback will take place both verbally and written on a day-to-day as needed basis, recognition in monthly employee recognition meetings, formal training on changes in SOP as needed with a formal review by the supervisor at least annuallyEducation and/or Experience:High school diploma or GED. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic mechanical aptitude. Willingness to learn web press operationsLanguage and Math Skills:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on -one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.Physical Demands:Often standing or walking, may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
