Description FUNCTION The Food Service Manager is responsible for the overall operations of nutritional services for Good Shepherd Community Outreach Services. Supervises nutritional services staff, oversees quality control, ensures necessary supplies are on hand and in stock, and appropriately documents nutrition care concerns/needs and nutrition plans for tenants. RESPONSIBILITIES Promotes Customer Care Standards of Service, Compassion, Trust, and Respect. Develops, implements and maintains the quality improvement program for the department in compliance with sanitation, health department, and federal regulations. Orders all supplies and food, ensures delivery, and maintains adequate inventory for Good Shepherd Community Outreach Services. Directs the dietary preparation and service of meals for tenants and special functions Coordinates meeting of nutritional needs for tenants. Maintains accurate and timely dietary forms and records including policies and procedures. Assists VP of Outreach with developing and managing the approved budget for the department and accurately codes and tracks expenditures. Hire, orient, and supervise staff. Approve staff payroll records. Schedule staff according to department guidelines. Arrange and/or perform on-going training for staff. Complete performance evaluations in a timely manner. Perform staff disciplinary and/or corrective actions as needed. Schedule and facilitate monthly team meetings. Inspect work areas setting up priority assignments and adjusting schedules as needed. Demonstrate participation in staff meetings and educational and safety programs, including all mandatory facility in-services. Identifies and seeks opportunities for self and staff growth, when appropriate. Works on a flexible schedule to meet departmental needs. Prepares production reports. Serves food, maintaining a high degree of accuracy. Records the temperature of all food products. Works cooperatively with other departments, tenants, families, and staff to fill expressed needs. Develops and accomplishes goals and objectives for the department annually. Oversees cleaning of kitchen and dining room. Follows departmental procedures to meet sanitation guidelines. Cleans up food production areas, including cooks equipment and other equipment when used. Follows hand washing procedures Washes surfaces including floor, walls, counter-tops, shelving, etc. Labels and dates food items, sorting in appropriate areas. Disposes food and waste in accordance to established policies. Cleaning of nutrition carts. Clearing of all dirty dishes from dining room. Sanitizing tables between settings. Ensuring that any noticeable food debris, utensils or paper products are picked up off the floor. Ensures compliance with Good Shepherd safety policies. Will perform Manager on Duty “MOD” responsibilities according to rotation. Each day it is important to abide by Good Shepherd’s Customer Care Standards. Maintains proper attendance in accordance with Good Shepherd’s policy. Reports to work on time in accordance with Good Shepherd’s policy. Provides adequate notice to supervisory personnel before absence or lateness in accordance with department policy. SAFETY Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow infection control, safety, and emergency policy and procedures. Refer to/review emergency preparedness manual and infection control policies. GENERAL Displays positive work habits that improve productivity of employees and function. Demonstrates willingness to accept new projects or assignments. Willingly assists other co-workers. Adheres to Good Shepherd’s dress code policy. Work center is organized and neat at all times. Plans daily workload to insure tasks completed. Instances of acceptance of new projects/assignments during review period can be identified. MISSION Led by God’s grace, Good Shepherd delivers Christian ministry by providing personalized housing and health care services. Qualifications Supervisory experience required. Requires a Minnesota Food Manager Certificate. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Previous experience in food preparation and serving required. Ability to work as a team member and resolve problem situations constructively. Experience in health care and working with seniors preferred. Three to five years of current knowledge of nutrition, food handling procedures, and large quantity food preparation and delivery. Job Shift Day Shift
