Benton SWCD utilizes traditional and innovative methods to address soil and water conservation concerns. We are looking for an individual to participate in both forms of conservation, and to bring new ideas with them. The successful candidate will work with a like-minded team of conservation professionals to address our local resource concerns by utilizing private, non-profit, local, state and federal resources. The successful candidate will primarily work with rural landowners to solve their needs and conservation needs simultaneously. Diversity in responsibilities should be expected. This position provides technical assistance and promotes best management practices to land users in Benton County under policies established by the Benton Soil and Water Conservation District. A detailed list of duties and qualifications can be found on the position description. Current areas of emphasis may include: ? Assist landowners in planning conservation measures for their property to meet water and soil quality protection and landowner goals. Some examples of existing and planned practices include cropland erosion control measures (i.e. water and sediment control basins), feedlot runoff treatment and poultry manure stacking slabs, nutrient management, crop residue management, cover crops, native prairie grass establishment, filter strips, irrigation water management, abandoned well sealings and wetland restorations. ?
