Preferred candidate will have one or more years’ experience as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). Where experience is limited, Fairview offers mentoring and development opportunities for professional growth.The Hand Therapist is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care including Examination, Evaluation, Diagnosis, Planning, Intervention and Establishing Outcomes. - FTE: 0.01, casual position; authorized to work up to 40 hours per week. - Schedule: As needed Monday - Friday, generally 8:00am - 4:30pm. Opportunities to pick up shifts as available and as able. - Position may provide coverage for various locations across the Twin Cities metro area; including, Blaine, Burnsville, Edina, Eagan, Elk River, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, Princeton, Woodbury, and Wyoming. Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs. Responsibilities - Evaluates and reassesses patient condition. - Gathers pertinent data. - Performs appropriate examination. - Determines occupational therapy diagnosis - Determines plan of care. - Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks. - Determines prognosis for recovery. - Establishes goals with patient or caregiver. - Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response. - Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team to achieve desire outcomes. - Establishes appropriate discharge plan. - Provides appropriate and effective interventions. - Educates patient and family on appropriate care. - Complies with standards of productivity and time management. - Provides proper documentation of interventions provided and patient response. - Supervises and directs appropriate members of rehab team. - Delegates tasks appropriately to assistants/clerks/aides/transporters/extenders - Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives. - Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position. - Actively mentors or otherwise assists in the professional development of Hand Therapists - Mentors Fairview Hand Therapists - Provides periodic continuing education sessions to staff. - Periodically supervises Level II Fieldwork students Required Qualifications - Occupational Therapy License in the State of Minnesota - Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy - Hand Therapist Credential from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross) Preferred Qualifications - M.A./M.S. in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school - 1+ year experience in hand therapy Benefit Overview Although this is considered a non-benefit eligible position, Fairview offers employees the option to participate in the Fairview 403(b) plan, earn Sick and Safe Time, and early access to earned wages.
