Details Posted: 13-Jun-23 Location: St. Joseph, MN Salary: Open Categories: Staff/Administrative Internal Number: 4078734 The Athletics Department at the College of Saint Benedict invites applicants for the part-time (.30 FTE) position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. Under the direction of the head athletic trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer's primary responsibility is the healthcare of the student-athletes at the College of Saint Benedict. This position will provide coverage to sports and athletic events as assigned. This position will evaluate, manage and treat athletic injuries as well as focusing on injury prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. They will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in coordinating the overall sports medicine program, including the supervision of Student Sports Medicine Assistants. The position is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the College of Saint Benedict, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), and NCAA. Athletic Training Duties - Provide athletic training services as directed by Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician(s) per Board of Medical Practice protocols including medical prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes. - Attend scheduled team practices, home competitions, and host visiting teams according to CSB, MIAC and NCAA policies. - Coordinate and refer student-athletes to the appropriate health care providers, including community physicians or mental health practitioners - Report status of injured student-athletes to coaching staff and determine student athlete's ability to practice and/or compete. - Assist with collection, organization and maintenance of medical records, which include review of physicals, health history, medical insurance, HIPPA, and other required MIAC and NCAA forms. - Implement the medical emergency action plan as necessary - Educate student-athletes on the Division III NCAA Drug Testing, Banned Substances and Concussion policies and testing mandated by the College of Saint Benedict, MIAC and the NCAA. - Be knowledgeable of institutional policies and procedures related to student-athlete welfare including alcohol, hazing, sexual assault and eating disorders. - Stay knowledgeable in current trends, techniques, and information in Sports Medicine. Administrative Duties - Assist Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Trainers with the supervision of the Sports Medicine Assistants and interns. - Assist with care and maintenance of equipment and athletic training rooms. - Assist with the coordination and communication of key information (as appropriate) to athletes, parents, coaches, administration and health services department in a timely and quality manner. - Attend athletic department and Student Development staff meetings as available - Attend MIAC Athletic Trainers meetings as appropriate. - Maintain Minnesota Certified Athletic Trainer License and certification requirements as defined by the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. - Complete additional assignments as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer or Director of Athletics Student Development/University - Recognize and understand gender differences and apply that knowledge in shaping positive & effective approaches to working with college age women. - Be knowledgeable of the college's commitment to Benedictine Values and support those values. - Bachelor Degree Required, Master's Degree preferred - Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) - Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification - Eligible to be Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice - Excellent organizational, oral, written, electronic communication and presentation skills Create a Job Alert for Similar Jobs Logo About College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University The College of Saint Benedict (CSB), a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John's University (SJU), a liberal arts college for men, are located in the central lakes area of Minnesota, surrounded by more than 3,000 acres of pristine forests, prairies, and lakes.
