Find your place in the ATS family today. #WeAreATS Scope The Wind Safety Specialist is responsible for facilitating driver training and site visits. The purpose of this position is to reduce risk through facilitating on-the-job training to drivers by reviewing and monitoring safety processes, and to assist with wind project planning by providing site supervision duties. Education and Experience 1.Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in safety/compliance or related field; or 4-6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation industry resulting in a firm understanding of the Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations (i.e. driver training/facilitation, field experience with the transport of over-dimensional commodity on multi-axle configurations. 2.Working knowledge of the wind transportation industry is preferred. 3.2-5 years of supervisory/leadership experience preferred. 4.Must be willing to travel up to 70-80% of the time. 5.Proven experience in creating and facilitating training. 6.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment. 7.Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). 8.Strong communication skills (written, listening, verbal). 9.Willing and able to travel frequently, including overnight travel. 10.Strong interpersonal skills; establishes trust and rapport with all levels of personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1.Facilitate on-the-job training for drivers. a.Facilitate driver training in the safe operation of all wind specific equipment along with general heavy haul equipment. b.Train Pilot Car drivers on skills including basic operation and steering. c.Perform retraining of drivers identified needing refresher training. d.Work with wind safety personnel to complete the training cycle for drivers. e.Complete post-classroom, over-the-road training with drivers. f.Review claims and incidents to evaluate current training procedures and to identify potential training opportunities. g.Manage overall wind cargo claims through training. h.Manage wind cargo claims specifically for drivers trained on the job. i.Assist in accident counseling. j.Assist and backs-up wind safety personnel with curriculum design, training facilitation and training projects. 2.Lead the development, retention and recruiting of Site Supervisors. a.Supervise, coach and mentor site supervisors (approximately 15). b.Coordinate with Project Managers and other personnel as needed to ensure customer expectations and safety goals are met. c.Solicit contract and train new candidates for the role as needed to meet business demands. d.Partner with the Wind Team to schedule Site Supervisors for Wind projects. e.Maintain the ATS Wind Site Supervisor handbook, including modifications as needed to improve best practices. f.Partner with Director of Projects to set Site Supervisor pay rates and expense reimbursement policies. g.Approve and assist with the processing of Site Supervisor invoices - including the processing of per diem pay and expense reports for company Site Supervisors. h.Maintain cost analysis tools used to monitor expense and Site Supervisor revenue. 3.Perform shipper and site visits. a.Monitor driver compliance to ensure it aligns with set procedures. b.Perform equipment spot check inspections. c.Serve as a driver resource for questions and concerns. d.Observe ATS Logistics carriers. 4.Perform Site Supervision when specific safety issues exist and the location does not have a Site Supervisor. 5.Interview ATS Logistics drivers and approve their ability to perform the job and meet expectations. 6.Assist/supervise onsite for Heavy Haul with unique freight to ATS Specialized. 7.Assist operations on a limited basis with project planning and preliminary site review. 8.Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours and infrequent travel may be required. 9.In support of ATS’s culture, all employees are expected to consistently, effectively and reliably perform in accordance with the Company’s values as set forth in our core competencies and behaviors (All Employee and All Manager Competencies). 10.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
