Job Description Job Description Job Overview The Washline Operator/Material Handler is responsible for operating the plastics recycling, washing and sorting equipment in accordance with all quality and quantity standards, and moving product from the recycling facilities into the warehouse for both internal use, and external sales. Responsibilities: - Maintain a working knowledge of various material types, i.e., High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS), etc. - Monitor all product constantly to assure quality standards are being met; rejects product that does not meet quality standards - Fill the reground plastic dumpers, struktol hoppers, colorant hoppers as needed - Clean filters, pull screens, airlock discharge, back dock and magnets on pulverizers as needed - Unload trucks as needed; ump incoming plastic into appropriate holding containers - Perform all necessary set up functions; run test strips as needed; watch pulverizer feeder for material; change water bags and cooling filters twice per shift - Pull sample repros, flakes, etc; Load repro into silos, and clean up scattered material between silos - Find and gather material from warehouse for pelletizing Qualifications Education: High School education preferred Experience: 6 months experience in a production setting; plastics extrusion or injection molding experience preferred Licenses/Certificates: Not required Technology/Training: Ability to read computer screens on occasion, and understand basic mathematical functions necessary Physical & Mental Demands Ability to work in an atmosphere that is loud; temperatures vary depending on time of year (Winters can be chilly, summers get extremely hot due to the machinery); must be able to perform at high levels for periods of up to 12 hours at a time.
