Degree or higher Knowledge of instructional technology tools and techniques Experience working with students with academic needs Preferred Experience or training in field of education Experience working with students with disabilities Strong computer skills Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform assigned tasks with a high standard of quality POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the special education licensed staff and/or administration, the Technology & Support Specialist serves in partnership with building and district special education staff to support student’s access to accessible educational materials to ensure students receive the support and services they need to access, participate, and achieve in the general educational curriculum. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Prepares and produces accessible educational materials by converting printed material, such as student's textbook and required readings, to alternative text in an accessible format (i.e. electronic text (e-text), digital and audio formats) Supervises and assists students as they utilize technology in various settings Provides students and staff with support in implementing IEP and 504 accommodations, including access to assistive technology Provides training to students and staff on how to use assistive technology devices, accessibility features and other technology skills, to promote success in the classroom Assists with integrating technology into the classroom curriculum for student accessibility Assists in collecting/recording data relative to a student’s performance Assists in maintaining records, databases, and inventories within the building in conjunction with the Student Services Department Sets up, operates and troubleshoots technology systems Assists in production and maintenance of training materials Assists with programming and backing up communication devices Attends and participates in ongoing training Supports screening and assessment of students with characteristics of dyslexia Provide support to students accessing a variety of online textbooks, digital libraries, learning management systems, and other online resources Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing Occasional: lifting All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, students and parents and to model and promote a welcoming working and learning environment.
