Position Summary The Institutional Advancement Department at Saint John's University invites applicants for a part-time (.50 FTE), benefit-eligible Student Ambassador Coordinator. The Student Ambassador Program is a team of 20-25 student employees hired from the SJU student body. The Program is charged with staffing the call center, assisting with additional Annual Giving fundraising activities and working at key alumni events. The call center provides phone outreach to more than 20,000 alumni, parents, and friends of SJU on an annual basis. The work requires a combination of daytime and evening hours, with occasional work on weekends. SJU offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits program Responsibilities Student Ambassador Management and Training - Recruit, hire, train and manage a staff of 20-25 Student Ambassadors yearly; identify and train a leadership team of 4 supervisors and 2 student managers. - Manage and oversee all day-to-day operations of the Student Ambassador Program and the call center. - Implement ongoing professional development activities for Student Ambassadors. - Ensure a positive, energetic, and supportive work environment for all Student Ambassadors. - Share progress reports with Student Ambassadors, providing additional coaching and training where necessary. - Partner with Student Employment to ensure Student Ambassadors’ paperwork and evaluations are executed in a timely and accurate manner. Student Ambassador Call Center - Partner with the Director of Annual Giving and Annual Giving Office Coordinator to craft and execute a Student Fund solicitation plan with a focus on strategic segmentation of the constituent base. - Utilize Student Ambassadors to call alumni, parents, and friends to: - Ask them to support the Student Fund with a financial contribution. - Thank them for supporting of SJU. - Inform them of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. - Develop creative strategies and adopt best practices for call center efficacy, based on research of other colleges and outside resources. - Analyze data to assess call center efficacy and progress toward goals. - Create segmented lists for each calling campaign from the Saint John’s database. Student Ambassador Events - Partner with Alumni Relations staff to schedule and train Student Ambassadors for duties at key alumni events. - Manage Student Ambassadors at key alumni events (e.g. Home football games, campus tailgate events, Homecoming, Reunion, Give SJU Day, Saint John’s Day, Fellows Society receptions, Johnnies Standup, etc.) as needed. Other duties and responsibilities - Assist the Director of Annual Giving with data analysis as needed. - Attend and contribute to regular Annual Giving team meetings. - Represent the Office of Annual Giving as needed. - Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: - Associate degree required. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Ability to effectively manage multiple changing priorities with a positive attitude. - Excellent quantitative reasoning skills and the ability to analyze data in Microsoft Excel. - Ability to work with a very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. - Ability to coordinate and manage student employees. - Ability to facilitate groups of employees and build teamwork. - Ability to work effectively without direct supervision. - Discreet judgment and confidentiality. Preferred: - Baccalaureate degree. - Flexible and positive attitude. - Ability to acquire an understanding of the character and educational mission of Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict. AFLAC SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE This voluntary plan offers an additional level of financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident or illness. LIFE INSURANCE CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance becomes effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary as follows: Salary Life Insurance $0- $20,000 $50,000 $20,001 - $37,500 $75,000 $37,501 - $50,000 $90,000 $50,001+ $100,000 You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available. VACATION Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours. Employees working 100% time receive the following: Vacation days per year Years employed 15 days 1-10 years 20 days 11+ years HOLIDAY PAY Employees receive paid holidays. CSB/SJU recognizes ten official holidays during the calendar year. Holiday pay is computed on the basis of a four-hour day for part-time employees. SICK LEAVE Sick leave for part-time benefit eligible employees will be prorated, based on the number of hours worked. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). The maximum amount of sick leave available is 9 days per year. Eligible employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave hours to care for ill family members. FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS These plans allow employees to set aside a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses. VISION PLAN This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is currently a free counseling resource available to all employees and immediate family members.
