Paraprofessionals within this level include EL/ESL, Instructional, Media, and Special Education Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessionals provide assistance to licensed staff throughout the learning environment and, under the direction of the building administrator and/or licensed staff, the paraprofessionals in this level are responsible for assisting students with one-on-one and group defined instructional activities, supporting student needs in preparing their lessons for all subject areas and assisting and supervising students during instructional and non-instructional activities. Paraprofessionals in this level also maintain awareness and observe student's activities/actions, assessing behavior including communicating rules, expectations and consequences. Paraprofessionals in this level may also provide administrative support by performing record keeping and clerical functions supporting the building administrator and/or licensed staff and assist the building administrator and/or licensed staff with educational materials or procedures, cataloging, preparing and/or inventorying materials and supplies.
