POSITION SUMMARY As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Department, you will serve as a dedicated resource to specify, implement, and support capital equipment for all New Flyer production facilities. WHAT YOU WILL DO: - Research, create and recommend manufacturing processes to meet product design engineering requirements. This includes, specify, justify, implement, and support new equipment/tooling for all New Flyer Production facilities as assigned. - Define, develop and recommend capital equipment justifications for business cases to justify purchase of manufacturing/production equipment, to include additional items such as software, and training. - Prepare, recommend and submit capital purchase business cases, presentations, and final proposals for review and approval. - Create related standard work instructions and train the necessary personnel on those standards. - Implement and facilitate lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, value stream mapping, set-up reduction etc.). - Promote an environment of continuous improvement and team work. - Conduct process observations to ensure that assigned time standards are fair and consistent. - Advise MIS/IT/Help Desk as required on new initiatives, and to resolve any PC/software/network concerns. - Research and test new technologies to better support Production. - Lead and/or participate in internal and outside supplier certifications and audits, as required. - Collaborate with various vendors on new technologies and troubleshooting support. - Support OPEX, through maintaining 5S weekly audits, housekeeping, and continuous improvement activities. WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: - Four-year degree in a related discipline such as Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering preferred - Lean certification or applicable equivalent experience beneficial - Proficiency in AutoCad, Unigraphics or similar 3-D CAD software, Ladder Logic, and Electrical troubleshooting preferred - Experience working with PC hardware and PC networks - Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment - Superior communication, both written and verbal, computer and organizational skills - Demonstrated ability to worked as an effective team player. - Goal orientated and motivation to achieve tasks within set timelines - Travel is required for this position.
