Come for a job, stay for a career. **_*Open to remote location but preference to sit near Medtronic location_** **A Day in the Life** Provide leadership for the development and execution of short long-term commodity strategy across Medtronic Operation Networks. This position will engage with Operation Network leadership to ensure delivery of effective procurement strategies and standards that deliver to Medtronics overall operations and business results. Through strategic leadership, the Senior Category Manager will facilitate Operation Network discussions that will optimize the commodity in terms of quality, service, technology, market intelligence, risk, and total cost of ownership for Medtronics Machined Metal products sourced from suppliers, with a total spend of $500M+. Partnering closely with Medtronics supply management operations networks organizations, this individual will work to leverage cross Operations Network strategies at an enterprise level and continuously work to develop and improve leveraging opportunities by consolidating spend with key business partners supporting the broader interests of Medtronic. In addition, this individual will be responsible for leveraging strategic sourcing processes across Medtronic by maximizing the companys combined purchase power to reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiations and optimize supplier relationship management opportunities through partnerships within their primary categories of oversight. Partnering closely with Medtronics supply management operations networks organizations, this individual will work to leverage cross Operations Network strategies at an enterprise level and continuously work to develop and improve leveraging opportunities by consolidating spend with key business partners supporting the broader interests of Medtronic. In addition, this individual will be responsible for leveraging strategic sourcing processes across Medtronic by maximizing the companys combined purchase power to reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiations and optimize supplier relationship management opportunities through partnerships within their primary categories of oversight. **Responsibilities:** The Senior Category Manager will have overall responsibility for leading a cross-functional, cross-divisional category teams in the development and implementation of strategies and goals for assigned commodities, in support of business objectives for driving improved supplier relationship management, improved service, quality assurance, advancing technology with RD / new product development teams, risk reduction / mitigation, and delivering lowest total cost of ownership. This individual will be responsible for strategies that extend through the full supply chain including primary and sub-tier component suppliers. -Travel up to 25-50% domestically and international. Supply Strategy Development Commercial Agreements: -Support development deployment of Global Machined Metal category strategies in alignment with Operation Networks. -Negotiate cross Operation Network agreements with suppliers including purchasing, development, supply, VMI, etc. -Monitor agreements for compliance and drive supplier accountability. -Develop strong partnering relationships with Suppliers, multiple Manufacturing Operations Sites, Materials Quality Assurance, Materials Technology, Development/Technology/Research community, Technical Sourcing Specialists, Finance and Law Department to accomplish strategic objectives. Material Cost Optimization Roadmap Strategy Innovation: -Cost improvement performance. -Total cost management of assigned commodity suppliers. -Responsible for long term cost optimization roadmaps to support overall commodity strategy. -Identify and appropriately leverage technology innovation from commodity supply base. -Utilize analytics metrics to identify, organize suppliers accordingly, in conjunction with Operation Networks. Supplier Performance Relationship Management: -Plays an active lead role in the cross-network negotiations and supplier relationship management. -Working with internal and external resources, responsible for driving rationalization, simplification, localization within your supply base. Focus on identification of synergies and identification, forming and leveraging strategic alliances. -Leads efforts for supplier analysis, selection processes, make/buy, outsourcing, business transitions within your area of responsibility. Supply Supplier Market Intelligence: -Develop and deploy Global market intelligence for Machined Metal products categories and provide insights to support network optimization opportunities. -Act as project manager in various types of continuation/product support projects. -Obtain and communicate market condition and technology trend information regarding commodities and suppliers. Implement appropriate business opportunities driving value to the enterprise. Supplier Risk Management: - Develop market category risk reduction strategies in partnership with operating unit. **Must Have: Minimum Requirements** + Bachelors degree required + Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in sourcing, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in sourcing. **Nice to Have** -Commodity management experience in a large, multi-divisional corporation. -Minimum of 5 years sourcing global Machined components with expertise in management and with strong negotiations experience. -Strong expertise technical aptitude in precision machined metals. -Experience in forming and maintaining strategic alliances. -Experience in cross-functional commodity teams. -Effective negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills. -Excellent written verbal communication within team and cross-functionally. -Highly organized and effective in managing multiple priorities and deadlines. -Ability to professionally represent Medtronic and develop productive working relationships with suppliers. -Capable of reading and interpreting engineering documentation and technical data. -Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office, Analytics, and SAP. -Advanced knowledge of Supply Agreements with domestic and international suppliers. -Knowledge of Project Management tools and ability to assist in tasks assigned by Project Managers. **About Medtronic** Together, we can change healthcare worldwide.
