Essential Duties:Assists with development, manufacturing, quality control (QC) of microbiology and molecular products and transfers necessary details to other function units (Production/QC) as needed.Performs basic molecular biology techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid quantitation, cloning, nucleic acid isolation.Performs basic microbiology techniques including microbial culture, enumeration, isolation, and identification using traditional and rapid methods.Manufactures test lots and analyzes product performance for RandD functions according to the appropriate DMR, policies, and procedures.Perform new product research and development under supervision.Documents research to support new product design controls, validations, verification, qualification, and specification/performance and statistical analysis as they apply to the companys products and according to policies and proceduresFill out and record all applicable production documentation.Assists with development and production of products for customer requests that do not fall within the scope of any current product lines and/or requires the capability of the department.Write or review new department SOPs/update existing department SOPs as necessary.Collaborate, support, and communicate on a regular basis with project teams and members of other functional areas.Perform maintenance per General Maintenance Schedule when applicableMay serve as support staff for other departments during periods of high demand.Perform other duties within the RandD department or other areas as assigned.Maintain a clean and organized work environment.Education/ExperienceFour (4) year degree in relevant field (e.g., biology, microbiology, virology, cell biology molecular biology, food science)At least 1 year hands-on experience working with cell culture or microorganisms.Knowledgeable on aseptic technique.Knowledgeable with formulations and basic chemistry techniques.Familiar with basic molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, primer design, etc.)Familiar with various public databases for retrieving publications or nucleotide sequences.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
