Job Description Duties Summary St. Cloud VA Hospital seeks a full-time Physiatrist with working knowledge of inpatient and outpatient services in physical medicine and rehabilitation, including physiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, recreational therapy, social work, psychology, rehabilitation nursing care, and audiology. The qualified Physician is responsible for providing care to Veterans with neuromuscular, neurologic, cardiovascular and/or musculoskeletal disorders. Responsibilities The St. Cloud VA Health Care System has an opening for a Full-Time Staff Physiatrist to provide care to Veterans near their hometown and serve over 18,000 Veterans throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. The qualified candidate will possess working knowledge of inpatient and outpatient services in physical medicine and rehabilitation, including physiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, recreational .therapy, social work, psychology, rehabilitation nursing care, and audiology. This position is responsible for providing care to Veterans with neuromuscular, neurologic, cardiovascular and/or musculoskeletal disorders in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)/Polytrauma and EMG Clinics. Responsibilities: Function independently as a member of the PM&R Medical Staff with full clinical privileges. Integral member of the PM&R, TBI/Polytrauma, and EMG teams and will work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals from medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, chaplaincy and other providers to meet the needs of Veterans and families served by these programs. Be accessible and available to personnel in the Rehab team and Primary Care and Specialty Clinics for consultation on complex cases. Provide assessment of physical and functional status of Veterans in the Physical Medicine Clinics. Ensure that consults requesting Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation services are performed in a timely manner and that the results are made readily available to the referring practitioners. Ensure direct patient care in his/her programs is clinically necessary and appropriate. Assume complete professional responsibility for clinical assessments, patient-care decisions and documentation. Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other EC&R providers through periodic chart reviews. Act as a surrogate for absent EC&R providers when needed, to include review of CPRS view alerts, and other duties as assigned. Regularly attend the provider meeting, departmental meetings and medical staff meetings. Typical work hours are Monday to Friday 730-400pm, and a full-time provider is required to work a minimum of 80 hours per pay period. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion. Work within privileges at all times and follow the Medical Bylaws. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1600 Recruitment/Relocation Incentive authorized. Amount to be determined. Education Debt Reduction Program: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below.
