NATURE AND SCOPE The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacy Manager and/or Staff Pharmacists with processing prescriptions, record keeping and stocking product. The position is also responsible for maintaining shelf stock to ensure maximum product availability and sales. Primary learning challenge is computer operation, accuracy and product knowledge. To be effective in this position you must have the ability to communicate with customers and other employees within the pharmacy. Furthermore, the Pharmacy Technician must maintain and follow all board of Pharmacy regulations as well as store and Pharmacy department policies and procedures. Knowledge of pharmacy operations is preferred for this position. Must be organized, be able to work on a number of tasks at one time, and work with minimum supervision. The incumbent must possess strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS Ensure positive customer relations * Properly greet, offer assistance and thank customers * Provide prompt and courteous service * Assist customers with product location and other questions, and refer to Pharmacist as necessary Assist the pharmacist in filling prescriptions * Verify and gather needed demographic and insurance information for written prescriptions received * Contact prescribers for refill authorization * Input prescription code and customer data into computer, print labels * Maintain sales records * Ensure confidentiality of records * Maintain knowledge of drug names * Complete insurance forms when necessary for customer * Assist with measuring dosages and labeling containers * Order, check-in and stock prescription medications * Process prescription returns Accurately process customer orders by ensuring price accuracy and product knowledge * Follow proper currency handling and cash register procedures * Notify Pricing Coordinator of department price discrepancies * Maintain familiarity with all product, product location and bottle location Receive and stock product * Fill, rotate, and straighten shelf stock * Properly maintain ends and displays * Pull back stock * Verify invoices with product received and complete necessary paperwork for discrepancies Perform other duties as assigned or delegated, including but not limited to: * Providing assistance with ordering product * Pulling bottles of drugs for Pharmacists to fill prescriptions * Organizing and cleaning * Maintaining Board of Pharmacy regulations JOB REQUIREMENTS * Ability to communicate through two-way verbal and written communication (speech, hearing and writing). * Ability to operate and use as needed various office equipment (personal computer, telephone, fax). * Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and evenings. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to write and see things in close proximity (reading distance). * Ability to comprehend written and verbal communication. * Ability to provide great customer service * Must be willing to train as a cashier * Medical background or interest preferred OTHER High School Degree or GED required Must be 18 years or older Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Jerry's Enterprises, Inc. will provide reasonable accommodations (such as a qualified sign language interpreter or other personal assistance) with the application process upon your request as required to comply with applicable laws.
