Responsibilities: The primary duties for this position will include: Complete interconnect performance-based benchmark tests in a timely manner, often under short deadlines, to support HPE sales activities as well as internal product decisions. Optimize interconnect benchmarks to provide performance results and information that enable HPE to submit competitive proposals in response to sales opportunities. Understand HPC architectural components and features, as well as performance estimation methodologies used to provide required information and performance assessments for benchmarks on future HPE and competitive systems. Provide clear and concise network performance assessment information for current and future products in the HPC market. Identify solutions, define action plans, and help coordinate and deliver optimal network enhancements and solutions. Recommend configurations and settings for different types of hardware and interconnect fabrics to be used by HPE customers. Maintain current knowledge of competitors' and HPE's interconnect products and relevant HPC performance optimization techniques to ensure HPE's ability to provide high-quality network performance results. Collaborate closely with colleagues across the company, as well as peers outside the company, to produce optimal performance results for network aspects of benchmark codes run on HPE platforms. Provide interconnect consultation to Sales, Marketing and Development teams to enable HPE to grow its business. Qualifications: ??? Extensive academic or industry experience and in-depth understanding of networking technologies as utilized within the HPC market. A demonstrated ability to assess and optimize network performance on HPC systems. Experience analyzing and optimizing the performance of network aspects of computational applications on HPC Linux systems. The ability to work well with others to accomplish targeted goals. The ability to convey highly technical materials to a variety of audiences both inside and outside of HPE. Experience with scientific/engineering software, with an emphasis on the interconnect fabrics, for HPC systems. Bachelor degree Masters or PhD preferred in a technical field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental, etc.). Keen analytical skills and problem solving ability. Expertise with several of the following programming tools, and the ability to quickly learn others: - MPI & MPI-IO - Compilers (C++, C, Fortran) - Python and other scripting languages - Performance profiling tools and debugging tools Experience with the following; or the ability to quickly learn: - Processor technology from the user and programmer perspective; - Accelerator technology, CUDA, OpenACC from the programmer perspective; - Characteristics of different MPI implementations, and best practice for extracting the best performance from each - Parallel programming techniques and algorithms; - Running applications and benchmarks across some of the largest HPC systems in the world. - Analyzing and assessing benchmark and application performance, with a focus on network performance, for various HPC systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The willingness and ability to recognize and address issues encountered when working with leading edge technology, to work under demanding deadlines, and to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced challenging HPC performance estimation experience is also a plus, as well as experience running network benchmarks such as OSU and IMB.
