Welcome to the Parks Livestock (part of The Parks Companies)! We transport livestock, mostly hogs, and some cattle across the country, but mainly in the Midwest. In addition to our livestock transportation, trailer wash facilities, roaster pig harvesting and swine finishing buildings, we currently have 18 livestock marketing facilities located in the United States and Canada. We market all types of livestock but specialize in swine marketing with a focus on cull sows, finishing culls, market hogs, and feeder and weaner pigs. We are currently hiring OTR Livestock Truck Drivers located in the Midwest Region (IA, NE, MN, WI, IL, IN). In this role you will operate tractor and/or semi-trailer to deliver livestock to customers. You will also load and unload or assist in loading and unloading livestock on trailers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Loads or assists in loading trailer with livestock. Unloads or assists in unloading trailer by using rattle paddles. Operates trucks with one trailer, according to state and federal laws. Transports load on route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Obtains load-out paperwork and necessary signatures and return completed paper work to Trucking Office. Maintains any related records required, keeps accurate and up to date driver log books. Understands bio-security concerns and the importance of cleanliness of clothing and equipment. Performs miscellaneous service duties as required by DOT for pre-trip inspections, such as checking each day the oil, water and fuel levels, and air pressure in tires. Evaluates and maintains equipment for fuel economy by checking tire air pressure and wear. Ensures proper timeliness of arriving at loading point, time to load, arrival time at destination, and unload time at destination. May need to clean tractor body plus wash inside/outside of trailer and add shavings. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Valid state CDL license. Ability to lift 70 pounds. Ability to operate gates and ramps in trailer and at livestock facilities. Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at pick-up and delivery points. Must maintain a good, clean personal appearance. Requires high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor/ tractor-trailer and in preventing damage to livestock and equipment. Frequently sitting in cab for long periods of time. Must meet U.S. Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening pre-employment; as a safety sensitive employee subject to random substance abuse screening as required under USDOT compliance. Must pass and receive Animal Handling Certificate, Trucker Quality Assurance certification, tractor/trailer wash protocols. Have at least one year of experience with livestock handling. Motor Vehicle Report must be clean and in good standing. Proper use of driver-provided hands-free cell phones to report progress while on the road.
