Job Description Summary The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for partnering with Operations leaders to assess and determine training needs to maximize the position and employee’s effectiveness in support of Organizations strategy and goals. Develops, implements, conducts and coordinates a comprehensive training program based on these objectives. Education and Experience - Knowledge of Training and Development discipline as represented by a minimum of (2) years of training development experience and a minimum of (4) years training experience. - Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Transportation or similar industry experience strongly preferred. - Strong consulting, influencing and business literacy skills, including the proven ability to analyze and apply data. - Experience partnering with leadership to develop and deliver training. - Exceptional organizational and time management skills with proven ability to work independently as well as in teams and multi-task in a high-energy environment. - Collaborative approach with a proven ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results. - Flexible and Adaptable to change. - Detail oriented with a proven ability to manage and execute on complex projects. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. HRMS experience preferred. - Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal), presentation skills, and training skills. - Ability to speak and engage effectively in front of groups as well as with individuals on a one-on-one basis. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Proven aptitude to work within complex software systems is preferred. - Must be proficient in responding to internal and external customer situations, responding to customer needs as required. - Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel. Must have a valid driver’s license as needed to meet the travel requirements of the job. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Designs training courses and programs necessary for Fleet Managers and Customer Service positions for existing employees and new hires by identifying training needs to meet department performance standards. - Partners with applicable Operations leadership team to identify learning priorities and, to build a learning plan and instructional methods that support achievement of objectives. May include partnering with an external consultant to build the learning plan and/or curriculum within this model. - Builds, develops, and executes a technical (ATS’s customized system LME) and competency-based training program including materials, schedule, and subject matter experts needed to provide position and company knowledge and gather feedback to track progress towards learning objectives. - Identifies, selects, and manages external training sources and schedules subject matter experts necessary to deliver required training. - Monitors training program to identify new approaches and techniques and determines changes needed, modifying to improve the training program. - Maintains training records. - Conducts interactive training through large and small-group and one-on-one settings to achieve training objectives. Includes pre- and post-classroom activities to reinforce the training principles. - Supports the hiring manager through the onboarding process, ensuring new hires are set up for success and have a positive new hire experience. Mentors and/or coaches mentors of new hires by answering questions, comments, and concerns about the job to get employees familiar with company policies and procedures, as well as reinforce the technical and other training topics. - Partners with Operations leadership to identify key indicators that denote employee is meeting expectations at each stage of their employment lifecycle (e.g. 60 days, 6 months, 1 year, etc.) and the learning cycle. - Provides feedback to the trainee’s manager on participation and knowledge gained and displayed throughout the training and reinforcement periods.
