Position Summary The Music Department of the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University (CSB/SJU) invites applications for an adjunct instructor position with specialization in Clarinet to begin in January 2022. The College of Saint Benedict, a college for women, and Saint John's University, a college for men, are two liberal arts colleges located four miles apart in Central Minnesota just outside metropolitan Saint Cloud and 70 miles from Minneapolis. The students of these two colleges share in one common education, as well as coeducational social, cultural and spiritual programs. All academic departments are joint, and classes are offered throughout the day on both campuses. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities will include applied studio instruction in clarinet performance. Candidates will work collaboratively with the applied wind, brass, and percussion faculty, and directors of instrumental ensembles. Depending on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise, other potential assignments may include teaching Woodwind Methods, a course designed to enable future music educators to teach the woodwind instruments by introducing the fundamental skills and pedagogical knowledge needed to do so effectively, coaching clarinet ensemble or other woodwind chamber music ensembles, and performing in the faculty chamber ensemble, PASTICHE. Qualifications M.M. in music is required; D.M.A. or other appropriate terminal degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with substantial professional performance and education experience.
