Position Summary The Merchandise Coordinator is responsible for cashiering and ordering Convenience Store merchandise. In addition to, shipment processing, receiving, invoicing, merchandising, sales for book departments. The Merchandise Coordinator works collaboratively with the Book Buyer to meet the needs of Bookstore customers. Responsibilities Shipment Processing for Course Materials and Trade Books - Receive and organize incoming book shipments. - Assist with book buyback, rental returns and web order fulfillment. - Maintain accurate inventory records in PrismCore inventory software. - Process invoices for payment and reconcile statements. - Work with vendors on defective items and discrepancies - Process book returns and credit memo reconciliation. Cashier/Convenience Store Buying and Customer Service - Responsible for ordering and managing inventories for convenience store products for CSB/SJU Bookstores. - Develop an understanding of the ordering processes and work closely with vendor/jobbers on product selection and deliveries. - Coordinate buying programs, product mix, reordering of basic stock and initializing the markdown process to ensure the desired inventory levels are maintained. - Individual will maintain a working knowledge of the general merchandise software to include applications and processes for improving department efficiencies. - Responsible for cashier duties and providing good customer service. Duties include daily cash and charge sales for the store. Individual must be proficient with all register functions and have a good understanding of transaction procedures and store policies. 3. General Duties - Assist with training of student employees in the book and convenience store functions. - Greet customers and offer assistance creating a welcoming and friendly environment. - Maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment in all work areas and cash register. - Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director. Be willing to alter workflow and work priorities to assist the organization when asked. - Support innovation, creativity and ideas to improve or enhance processes, functions and increase productivity in the Bookstore. Qualifications - Secondary education or equivalent work experience in related field required. (ie.-retail, customer service, or accounting) - Excellent customer service skills and the ability to positively interact with faculty/staff, students, customers, vendors and other visitors. - Effective interpersonal communication skills and ability to build collaborative working relationships. - Excellent organizational, problem solving, attention to detail and multitasking skills and ability to prioritize work under own initiative and with limited supervision. - Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet computer applications; willingness and ability to learn new computer programs. Experience with retail systems or cashiering preferred. - Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations. Including lifting and/or carrying up to 40lbs, bending, reaching, walking and standing for extended periods of time. - Ability to work a varied schedule as needed for events. AFLAC SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE This voluntary plan offers an additional level of financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident or illness. LIFE INSURANCE CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary as follows: Salary Life Insurance $0-$20,000 $50,000 $20,001-$37,500 $75,000 $37,501-$50,000 $90,000 $50,001+ $100,000 Employer provided life insurance in excess of $50,000 is subject to imputed income tax (a tax on the value of the premium). You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available. LONG-TERM DISABILITY After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working. This plan provides a benefit that equals 60% of your basic monthly earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $11,000. This benefit may be payable, provided the employee is unable to perform the usual and customary duties of his/her occupation. VACATION Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours. Employees working 100% time receive the following: Years of Service Full-time annual accrual 0 to end of 2nd year 10 days beginning 3rd to end of 5th year 13 days beginning 6th to end of 10th year 16 days beginning 11th year and beyond 20 days FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pretax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses. VISION PLAN This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included. TUITION REMISSION Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. The payment of special fees is the responsibility of the employee. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer; up to a maximum of 2 courses per year. There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 5 years (60 months) of continuous full-time employment. CSB/SJU will grant tuition remission the next full semester to the dependent, providing the dependent meets the academic requirements. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities. PARENTAL LEAVE A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment. SICK LEAVE Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to all employees and immediate family members. RETIREMENT Defined Contribution Plan CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA). Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out. TUITION ASSISTANCE The tuition assistance plan is an educational grant provided by CSB/SJU to a qualified son or daughter of a full time employee toward meeting the tuition costs at Saint John's Preparatory School. The dependent must meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive this grant.
