Albany Area Schools n Secondary School n Laundry/Custodian n 6hrs/day During the School Year n 3hrs/day During the Summer Months n n n Position Function: nUnder the direct supervision of the District Maintenance Supervisor, Activities Director, and Building Principal, the Laundry Custodian is responsible to perform laundry services for the Athletic Department at Albany Area School. This person will also be responsible for the general cleaning of the Secondary School boys’ and girls’ locker rooms and areas on the lower level of the Secondary School building. Along with general classroom cleaning. This position has the potential for additional hours working nights/weekends during special events. n nPerforms related duties and work as required. n n Essential Functions: Laundry n - Stain removal on team practice and game uniforms. n - Washing and drying apparel items by operating multiple laundry machines at a time. n - Custodial duties include, but are not limited to, dry mopping and scrubbing locker room floors, cleaning sinks, toilets, urinals, and shower area floors and walls. n - Cleaning, dry mopping, and scrubbing locker room corridor hallway. n - Removal of trash and recyclables from receptacles and disposing in proper dumpsters. n - Refilling of paper towel and soap dispensers. n - Other duties assigned by the Building Maintenance Supervisor, Activities Director, Principal or Superintendent of schools. n - Some night and weekend shifts are available for tournaments and other special activities and events held at the school. n n Essential Functions: General Custodial n - Cleans, scrubs, vacuums, sweeps floors in classrooms, offices, hallways, commons area and bathrooms. n - Washes windows, walls, along with dusting and washing cabinets, doors and desks in classrooms. n - Assist with stripping and waxing tile floors and cleaning carpets during the summer; other deep cleaning as assigned. n - Removal of garbage and recycling from classrooms, offices and common areas of the school to the proper garbage or recycling dumpsters. n - Opens and locks doors as required by the Building Maintenance Supervisor for extracurricular and community education and other pre-approved scheduled activities. Secure and close the building down when the day's events and activities have concluded. n - Monitor and report any needed repairs to the Building Maintenance Supervisor. n - Monthly checks of safety items, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting in designated work area. n - Assist with set up of equipment for extracurricular and special events as well as taking down equipment and cleaning the area when the event has concluded. n - Assist with setup of tables, chairs and special items needed for school and other special events held on school property. n - Assist with the stripping and waxing of tile floors and cleaning of carpets during the summer. n - Assist with other deep cleaning as assigned. n - Other duties assigned by the Building Maintenance Supervisor, Head Building Custodian, Principal or Superintendent of Schools. n - Some weekend shifts are required for tournaments and other special activities and events held at the school. n n Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. Must comply with school district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets. n n n Knowledge, Skills and Abilities n - Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others. n - Ability to describe orally or in writing any cleaning, maintenance, or repair problems as needed. n - Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work. n - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. n - Ability to work in warm conditions, in areas without air conditioning n - Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s). n n Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards n - Works in standard office and school building environments n - Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents, and contaminated trash, etc. n - Standing and walking 90% of the time. 50% of the time involves twisting, bending, stooping, climbing stairs. n - 25% of the time involves crouching, pulling, twisting while lifting, sweeping, and mopping. n - Lifting requirement of up to 50 pounds n n Qualifications Profile: n - Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. n - High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position. n n Work Schedules n4:00pm – 10:00pm during the school year. nSummer hours will vary. nSome night and weekend shifts are available for tournaments and other special activities and events held at the school. n nWage Range: $14.12 to $16.82 n nQuestions about the position can be directed to Dean Mitchell, District Maintenance Supervisor at dmitchell@district745.org n nQuestions about online application process can be directed to Amy Rausch in the District Office at arausch@district745.org " }
