Position Summary The IT Services department at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University invite applications for the full-time, benefit-eligible position of IT Support Specialist. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for faculty, staff and students and other members of the CSB/SJU/OSB community. Support is provided to Windows and Macintosh customers, which includes troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripherals. In addition, this position coordinates the resolution of customer support issues to ensure timely problem resolution and create a positive impact on productivity and satisfaction. The position is also responsible for assisting with the implementation of IT projects that impact the customers. This includes supporting Microsoft Office applications, various graphics programs, websites, online forms, mobile devices, and other software as required. Set up and support campus-owned Windows and macOS computers and accompanying software and peripherals. Support is provided utilizing email, telephone, remote control, on-site services and will also include researching the web and contacting vendors for additional support. - Coordinate the timely resolution of customer support issues to create a positive impact on productivity and satisfaction. Utilize ticketing software to log, track, and document incidents. - Enhance the quality and efficiency of IT support and services, which includes documentation, and online training to keep abreast of current technology. Test, write, and update online reference materials and FAQs for use by campus customers and IT staff. Acquire and maintain knowledge of applications, current support policies and methods of delivery to provide technically accurate solutions to customers. - Utilize troubleshooting techniques to isolate and resolve problems, working closely with other IT staff as required. It will be important that someone be able to think outside the box and be adaptable, each issue is going to be different, and it is going to be critical that this individual is a problem solver. - Assist customers with information on how to best use computer software/hardware and provide suggestions to improve their computing productivity. - Lead and complete assigned IT projects that require support and communication to the customer. - Hire, train, mentor and supervise support student employee. - Test, review, document and deploy software and peripheral devices for use with campus-owned computers. ADDENDUM: The IT Support Specialist routinely sits at a computer for an extended period performing continuous hours of keyboard use. Occasional travel from campus to campus is required. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Work-related experience in technology support or formal education in computer science, business or related field. - Experience in providing support on multiple computing products, including Windows, macOS or Office 365. - Exceptional customer service/empathy skills and the ability to positively interact with faculty/staff, students and other guests on campus seeking support. - Effective interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative working relationships within the IT Services department and across the institutions. - Excellent organizational, problem solving, attention to detail and multitasking skills and ability to prioritize work under own initiative and with limited supervision. - Demonstrated ability to explain the techniques, concepts and procedures involved with software use to a wide range of customers for training and problem-solving situations. - Ability to adapt easily to change as well as prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. - A willingness to improve computing skills and knowledge. AFLAC SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE This voluntary plan offers an additional level of financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident or illness. LIFE INSURANCE CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary as follows: Salary Life Insurance $0-$20,000 $50,000 $20,001-$37,500 $75,000 $37,501-$50,000 $90,000 $50,001+ $100,000 Employer provided life insurance in excess of $50,000 is subject to imputed income tax (a tax on the value of the premium). You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available. LONG-TERM DISABILITY After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working. This plan provides a benefit that equals 60% of your basic monthly earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $11,000. This benefit may be payable, provided the employee is unable to perform the usual and customary duties of his/her occupation. VACATION Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours. Employees working 100% time receive the following: Years of Service Full-time annual accrual 0 to end of 2nd year 10 days beginning 3rd to end of 5th year 13 days beginning 6th to end of 10th year 16 days beginning 11th year and beyond 20 days FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pretax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses. VISION PLAN This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included. TUITION REMISSION Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. The payment of special fees is the responsibility of the employee. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer; up to a maximum of 2 courses per year. There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 5 years (60 months) of continuous full-time employment. CSB/SJU will grant tuition remission the next full semester to the dependent, providing the dependent meets the academic requirements. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities. PARENTAL LEAVE A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment. SICK LEAVE Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to all employees and immediate family members. EAP counselors can help you identify problems and concerns regarding family, marriage, emotions, alcohol or drugs, financial difficulties, legal issues and job stress. All contacts between you, your family, and the EAP are provided as a benefit from CSB/SJU and are kept strictly confidential. RETIREMENT Defined Contribution Plan CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA). Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out. TUITION ASSISTANCE The tuition assistance plan is an educational grant provided by CSB/SJU to a qualified son or daughter of a full time employee toward meeting the tuition costs at Saint John's Preparatory School. The dependent must meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive this grant.
