Description JOB FUNCTION Responsible to provide personal cares per individualized care plans as necessary to maintain the personal comfort of the client. Responsible for observing and reporting any changes in a patient’s condition. RESPONSIBILITIES Promotes Good Shepherd’s Customer Care Standards of Service, Compassion, Trust, and Respect each day; W.O.W. customers in the manner you are trained. Excellent Customer Care is an expectation and all staff are empowered to do everything in your power to make sure that everyone including residents, tenants, families, guests and co-workers, are treated with excellence. Performs personal care activities, including but not limited to: bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing. Performs delegated procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Provide companionship and basic emotional support. Assist with ambulation, transfers, exercise, and escorts. Assist in the administering of medications and treatments that are ordinarily self-administered under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Observes and reports any changes in client’s condition. Records data according to procedure and reports changes. Responds to emergencies. Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team. Performs homemaker’s duties as assigned, including but not limited to: cleaning, cooking, etc. Follows policies and procedures of Good Shepherd including: Mandated Reporting, Corporate Compliance, Emergencies, and other policies as trained. Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. ATTENDANCE Maintains proper attendance and punctuality to help ensure Good Shepherd is operated in an efficient and effective manner. Maintains proper attendance in accordance with Good Shepherd’s policy. Reports to work on time in accordance with Good Shepherd’s policy. Provides adequate notice to supervisory personnel before absence or lateness in accordance with department policy. SAFETY Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow infection control, safety, and emergency policy and procedures. Refer to/review emergency preparedness manual and infection control policies. GENERAL Displays positive work habits that improve productivity of employees and function. Demonstrates willingness to accept new projects or assignments. Willingly assists other co-workers. Adheres to Good Shepherd’s dress code policy. Work center is organized and neat at all times. Plans daily workload to insure tasks completed. Open to new projects/assignments as identified. MISSION The Good Shepherd Community, a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod organization, provides a ministry of health care and housing services for young and older adults in Central Minnesota. Qualifications Must have successfully completed the 75-hour Nursing Assistant course. Documentation must be provided. 6-month of direct care experience within previous two years preferred. Ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal form in English. High school graduate (or equivalent) preferred. Be able to work in a variety of client home settings with possible exposure to second hand smoke, pets, and various cleaning chemicals. Strong problem-solving skills are necessary. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress. Works varied hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Works under the supervisor of a licensed nurse, to use acquired knowledge and skills, using standards of paraprofessional clinical practice and adhering to pertinent federal and state regulations.
