In-House General Counsel will work under the direction of the President, CEO while managing all legal matters for the bank corporation and managing and developing the company lawyers and legal support staff. The person hired for this role will work closely with the bank corporation's C-Suite and various teams to safeguard the bank corporation and its interests. Responsibilitie s : · Manage all legal matters and develop legal strategies and risk management priorities that advance and align with the bank corporation's company-wide Strategic Plan. · Proactively provide legal counsel and risk management guidance to identify business opportunities and formulate a disciplined M&A process and organic growth strategies, and continued enhancement to internal controls and safety and soundness. · Management of the Legal Department. This includes hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and terminations. Assure that the staff is fully trained, that cross-training is provided, and ongoing training opportunities are offered, and day-to-day legal operations and efficiencies of the Legal Department are continually measured, assessed, and enhanced. · Provide direction, guidance, and assistance on legal matters for the Legal team and all departments across the bank. · Engage and manage outside counsel, including outside bank regulatory counsel, transactional counsel, and litigation counsel. · Additional duties Required Qualifications: · Juris Doctor from an accredited law firm · Previous managerial experience · 15 years of progressive practice including five years of in-house banking transactional experience, finance, corporate law, and practice. · Background in secured transactions, commercial transactions and litigation, collections, creditors' rights, and bankruptcy, along with representation of lenders and financial institutions. · Experience with partnerships with fintechs and other non-bank lenders is a plus · Exceptional research and writing skills · Extremely resourceful with the ability to prioritize and manage and large, diverse workload For more information about this opportunity and for immediate consideration, apply directly with your resume.
