Location: Cold Spring, MN Department: Finishing Hiring Contact: Roy Undersander Job Summary: The Finishing Line Operator uses various hand and automatic tools to blend or remove any imperfections from memorials, as well as polishing and highlighting them, to ensure they meet the appropriate quality standards. Duties: • Transfers memorials from conveyor to finishing booth • Uses a straight drill with a wire wheel to remove excess paint from memorial boarders, sculpted designs and emblems • Uses a hand wire brush to remove paint from small, detailed emblems • Uses a die grinder with an abrasive pad to highlight wire wheeled areas to brighten bronze and antique it • Uses a high-cycle tool with a metal finishing wheel to remove excess paint and metal, polishes any lettering and flattens emblems to standard thickness • Controls the frequency drive to adjust the speed of the metal finishing wheel to avoid over-sanding and removal of pertinent details on letters and emblems • Uses a surface conditioning belt to polish the radius on certain designs and patterns • Applies touch-up paint on memorials with an air brush • Uses scrub brush and compressed air to clean memorials • Performs appropriate inspections to ensure quality standards are met • Scans work orders into JDE system • Trims excess bronze and/or burrs from letters, numbers and emblems received from the Trimmer area as needed • Inspects each item to ensure it meets quality and tolerance standards • Uses an iPad as a reference tool to verify how various emblems should be finished • Uses a belter sander to polish flat letters and memorial boarders as necessary • Performs 5S and Total Productive Maintenance duties and assists in improving departmental 5S practices • Adheres to all safety policies and protocol while maintaining a high level of performance; includes identifying and eliminating any potential safety hazards in the work area • Cross trains in other departments as needed • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements: • Good eye-hand coordination • Detail oriented • Works in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy Physical Requirements: • Repetitive bending, lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying of objects • Lifts up to 50 lbs. occasionally • Stands for the entire shift • Wears protective safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, and latex/vinyl gloves Status: This is a full-time, hourly, temporary position. Hours are Mon. – Thurs., 5 AM - 2 PM and Fri. 5 AM – 11AM; overtime as needed.
