Elk River Machine Company is seeking a CNC Machinist. This is a 2nd Shift position, 4x10’s. We are seeking candidates that have mills or lathes experience. Job Type: Full-time; 3:30pm - 2:00am - Monday - Thursday (Fridays off!) Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour --- 2nd shift premium of $2.00 A few things we have to offer: - Medical, Dental & Vision for employee & family including domestic partners - 401k - Tuition Reimbursement - PTO accrual starts immediately - Yearly shoe allowance - Referral Program PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: Performs the most complex machining and fitting of all kinds of parts, tools, and machines in support of production or job shop machining without technical supervision. Ability to accurately produce necessary CNC code from a customer drawing or CAM system to produce raw code necessary for setup of CNC lathes, vertical and horizontal Mills with tombstone fixturing. Assists in the development of processes and fixturing and the necessary CNC code for either. Solid basis of knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance is required. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Safety: - Follow company safety rules. - Uses safe material handling methods. - Report and/or correct unsafe work conditions. - Participate in plant safety inspections. - Identify and/or report opportunities for safety improvement. - Remind fellow employees to work safely. Quality: - Able to hold dimensions with tolerances as specified. - Use micrometers, precision calipers, gages, indicators, and other measuring tools as required. Includes coordinate measuring machine and surface plate setups. - Setup and record data on inspection documents during manufacturing processes. - Signs off traveler signifying: - Work has been inspected. Dimensions, specifications, and count have been verified. - Workmanship meets or exceeds company and customer expectations and is complete as defined by job paperwork and cut list. - The products are properly marked, packaged and placed in queue for the next processing step. (Job #, Qty., Part #, Heat # & Pallet #) - Enter time correctly into the MES Station (timekeeping system). Productivity: - Efficiently setups and operates without assistance the following machine tools: Manual lathes, Manual milling machines, precision grinding machines, horizontal boring mills, CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and other miscellaneous equipment. - Designs, selects and sets up proper fixturing to hold parts. - Select and properly use cutting tools for manual and CNC operations. - Writes and updates CNC programs, perform CNC control offset and program changes. Able to download and upload CNC programs to off-line devices. - Able to identify, recommend and implement the proper machining process or changes to the process. - Debur machined parts properly for safe handling, meeting print specifications or company standards. Technology: - Select and use the proper material handling devices to load and unload parts. - Zero defects. - Perform work in time allowed. - Work in a safe manner. REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: - High school education or equivalent. - 2 Year technical college diploma or equivalent work experience. Knowledge and Skills: - Blueprint reading. Inch, metric and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Able to solve mathematical or trigonometry problems with a pocket calculator. Able to lift 50# regularly. Able to understand oral and written instructions. Knows how to use the Machinery’s Handbook. - Understands and knows how to apply the principles of machinability and horsepower requirements. - Understands and is aware of the proper application of thermal conditions during the machining or inspection process. - Knowledge of safe material handling procedures.
