Position Summary The Department of Transportation and Facilities at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invites applications for a full-time (0.75 FTE), benefit eligible position of Bus Driver. The Transportation Department's mission is to provide safe, friendly, courteous, prompt and cost effective transportation for students, faculty, and staff. The College of Saint Benedict, a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John's University, a liberal arts college for men, are located in the central lakes area of Minnesota, surrounded by more than 3,000 acres of pristine forests, prairies and lakes. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Provide transportation for College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University for academic purposes via car, van and bus. - Perform preventative maintenance during pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections. - Maintain a clean and safe work environment. - Provide transportation to off-site student events which may include commute to Minneapolis/St. Paul or other areas. - This position will work a rotating schedule including days, nights and weekends. Qualifications - Possess working knowledge of state and federal transportation rules and regulations - Must complete and receive a successful DOT physical and are subject to DOT drug and alcohol random testing throughout employment. - Obtain a class "B" MN Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction. - Provide a copy of driving record - Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., with our without reasonable accommodations. - Ability to manage varied weather extremes. AFLAC SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE This voluntary plan offers an additional level of financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident or illness. LIFE INSURANCE CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary as follows: Salary Life Insurance $0-$20,000 $50,000 $20,001-$37,500 $75,000 $37,501-$50,000 $90,000 $50,001+ $100,000 Employer provided life insurance in excess of $50,000 is subject to imputed income tax (a tax on the value of the premium). You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available. LONG-TERM DISABILITY After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working. This plan provides a benefit that equals 60% of your basic monthly earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $11,000. This benefit may be payable, provided the employee is unable to perform the usual and customary duties of his/her occupation. VACATION Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours. Employees working 100% time receive the following: Years of Service Full-time annual accrual 0 to end of 2nd year 10 days beginning 3rd to end of 5th year 13 days beginning 6th to end of 10th year 16 days beginning 11th year and beyond 20 days FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pretax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses. VISION PLAN This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included. TUITION REMISSION Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. The payment of special fees is the responsibility of the employee. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer; up to a maximum of 2 courses per year. There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 5 years (60 months) of continuous full-time employment. CSB/SJU will grant tuition remission the next full semester to the dependent, providing the dependent meets the academic requirements. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities. PARENTAL LEAVE A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment. SICK LEAVE Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to all employees and immediate family members. EAP counselors can help you identify problems and concerns regarding family, marriage, emotions, alcohol or drugs, financial difficulties, legal issues and job stress. All contacts between you, your family, and the EAP are provided as a benefit from CSB/SJU and are kept strictly confidential. RETIREMENT Defined Contribution Plan CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA). Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out. TUITION ASSISTANCE The tuition assistance plan is an educational grant provided by CSB/SJU to a qualified son or daughter of a full time employee toward meeting the tuition costs at Saint John's Preparatory School. The dependent must meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive this grant.
