The Automation Engineer works in a comfortable, climate-controlled environment that is heated in the winter. This position evaluates and supervises casting processing and automation initiatives at our St. Cloud foundry location. You'll improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. In addition, this role will have the opportunity to lead a team and collaborate with other departments including production, maintenance, manufacturing, and process engineering. What You'll Do: - Analyze, design, test, and train on our automated equipment and production processes as well as recommending and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes, which benefit from automation techniques - Provide support during automated equipment breakdowns and technical issues including troubleshooting down to the PLC, fixturing, or component level - Create relevant metrics to track and improve uptime, productivity, and product quality - Apply Lean methodology and problem-solving tools to investigate and resolve recurring equipment issues - Direct and instruct both internal employees and external contractors during projects or advanced technical troubleshooting - Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes - Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends - Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, and requesting special service - Remain familiar with product design and process validations - Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies - Participate in cross function reliability teams to ensure maximum equipment availability What We Need from You: - 4-year degree in Engineering (applicants with equivalent years of experience will be considered) - 5+ years of experience and knowledge of PLC - Leadership experience is a plus Does this position sound like the right position for you?
