The Assistant Director of Nursing will provide direct oversight and supervision of MEnD's Nursing Directors under the supervision of our Director of Nursing.Job Duties: + Directs Nursing Directors and staff regarding overall nursing medical services in medical clinics company wide. Remain current with nursing practice guidelines and state and federal laws and regulations that impact our communities across the full continuum of care. + Ensures nursing staff is providing quality care that meets regulatory standards through facility auditing, training, mentoring and educating Nursing Directors. Recommends nursing policies and protocols which incorporate best current nursing strategies and professionally recognized standards. + Aides in the development of productive work teams in collaboration with the Human Resources Director, President, and Nursing Directors and other leadership positions. + Works closely with the HR Director regarding all employee relations issues and occurrences company wide. + Display an active and regular presence throughout all medical clinics in order to mentor leadership staff and model clinical competence and skills company wide. + Evaluates Nursing Directors via performance reviews and, when applicable, regarding disciplinary issues, in collaboration with Human Resources. + Collaborates with Director of Nursing to ensure consistency, standards and best practices through facility visits, county "flips", audits and clinical data analysis. + Assists Nursing Directors in medical clinic crisis situations and investigates all unusual incidents. + Assists Nursing Directors and nursing staff with grievances when necessary. + Assists with the management of companywide medical clinic budget items and issues under the direction of the Director of Nursing and President/CEO. + Understand, and demonstrate, MEnD's mission, vision, and strategic plan, and its' inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality. + Collaborates and communicates effectively with the MEnD Correctional Care team. + Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and conferences, reviewing professional publication, establishing professional networks, and participating in professional societies. + Maintains a professional appearance. + Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings. + Other various duties as assigned by MEnD Correctional Care within the scope of the position. This may include travel to various trade shows, conferences, and other jails managed by MEnD, etc. Qualifications:+ Strong interpersonal, change management, problem solving and decision making skills. + Self-motivated, goal oriented with the ability to drive successful and inclusive change initiatives. + Work independently with little direction; plan, organize and prioritize work; meet schedules and timelines. + Able to provide independent, critical thinking skills necessary for the Assistant Director of Nursing role. + Understand and possess pharmacology, safety, and nursing skills necessary to perform the nursing director role. + Must be able to deal effectively with difficult clients, inmates, and employees. + Adhere to the security features needed to work safely in this setting which includes secured doors and radio communications. + Demonstrates ability to effectively manage and direct the adjustment of medical techniques to accommodate the needs of the specialized population of the jail setting. This includes communication between medical and jail staff about the care of the inmate while understanding and adjusting for the unique security issues of the jail. + Professional and organizational skills required for executive management level tasks. + Advanced reporting and analyzing skills required for recommendations for policy and protocol creation and revision.Requirements:+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred + Valid, unrestricted, Minnesota Registered Nurse license + Basic Life Support (CPR) Certified + At least 3 years of nursing experience in same or similar setting is preferred (i.e. county jail, prison, juvenile correctional facility, hospital, home care, urgent care, ER, etc) Powered by JazzHR
