Job Summary Assistant County Attorney position to represent Sherburne County in criminal cases including felonies, gross misdemeanors, misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors at the district court level. May also be called upon to work on civil issues and juvenile cases. Other duties assigned. Minimum qualification for the position requires Juris Doctorate and admission to bar for State of Minnesota. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These examples of typical duties do not include all possible tasks for this classification and do not limit the assignment of related tasks. Regular attendance according to the department's approved work schedule is required for all Sherburne County positions. Assume case management responsibilities for criminal prosecutions, from initial charging decision through trial and final disposition. Handle probation violations on misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor and felony cases. Write briefs and other court memoranda. Handle post-conviction proceedings. Conduct or assist with legal research on criminal cases, criminal appeals and civil files. Conduct Law Enforcement Training, if requested. Attend criminal division meetings and assist in problem solving. Other duties as assigned by the County Attorney or Lead Attorneys
