Job Details Description POSITION SUMMARY Focuses on commercial appraisal reviews and internal evaluations to ensure real estate values support the credit decision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Conducts commercial appraisal reviews to ensure the appraisal meets FIRREA and NCUA regulations as well as CMCU policy. • Completes internal real estate market evaluations (EVAL) on commercial properties where an appraisal is not required. • Assists the credit analysts and lenders in estimating real estate values if an appraisal or EVAL is not required. • May complete appraisal reviews and EVALS on residential properties. • Reviews the existing appraisal for adequacy and conformity with changing market conditions and assists in the determination if a new appraisal is necessary. • Establishes and maintains selection criteria and procedures for the approved appraiser list. • Reviews existing lending and appraisal policies. Participates in establishing a well-defined and effective appraisal program that meets acceptable standards (FIRREA & USPAP) regarding appraiser qualifications and independence that conforms to safe and sound practice and recommends changes to the Senior Vice President of Credit. • Maintains independent control of the appraisal/valuation process. • Acts as a liaison between appraiser and CMCU lenders. • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Appraisal and Environmental Review Policies. • Conducts training to staff on a variety of appraisal and real estate valuation related topics. • Actively participates in community relations efforts to contribute to the mission and visibility of the Credit Union. Visibility and a positive image in the field of membership and with current and prospective members. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or equivalent. 8+ years’ experience in real estate appraisals involving commercial real estate or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through a minimum of 10 years related work experience. • Stated Certified Appraiser with M.A.I designation required.
